Year 7-8

Term 3 Update

Kia ora!

Kia ora and a warm welcome back to a slightly cooler term of learning, Stonefields whānau!

Our Learning Focus - Communities

This term we are very excited to be learning about careers and the world of work. We will be building knowledge about what opportunities there are for us beyond our schooling, analysing our skill sets, and finding out about possible career areas and pathways. We will also be making meaning around our current local and global communities in order to understand how careers might need to adapt to suit the needs of our future.

In order to make this learning meaningful, we would love you or your wider whānau or friends to come in to share with us some insights into your career journey. This could be either in person, or digitally. We would really value your input and we know our learners would really benefit from the real world experience and connections which you bring. Specifically we are interested in the work you have become involved in, how you got there, what excites you about your work, and where you see it taking you. If you, or anyone else you know would be able to share your experience, we are looking for people from a range of backgrounds and careers. Please fill out the form which can be found here.

Drama Challenge

Year 8 learners excited to be back!

Olympic Fever!

Our learners are building knowledge around their designated olympic country to explore diversity.

EOTC in Term 3

We are excited to announce that our Year 7/8 cohort will be journeying to Tree Adventures for our education outside the classroom learning for Term 3. We will be looking for whānau to come along and help on the day, so stay tuned for more information. Hub 14 will be attending on Tuesday the 31st of August and Hub 15 will be attending on Thursday the 2nd of September.

Stationery Update: Google Read Write

As part of our literacy programme in Year 7/8 we are using Google Read Write to help with our note taking, proof reading and literacy fluency. We are asking that learners bring a pair of earbuds/headphones to use this programme effectively. We suggest that that the pair in question is not of the latest or most expensive brand. Cheap and cheerful is fine for this particular purpose.
