Update 12

12th August 2021

Kia ora e te whānau

Tēnā Koutou Katoa,

Term 3 is well underway and the school has been abuzz with lots of excitement and laughter, despite some dreary and chilly days!

Our learning focus for the term - Community - has seen our junior learners venture out of Hub Rima and around the school to learn more about our school community and what some of our staff do around the school to help keep them safe, happy and healthy.

Have a great rest of the week and a wonderful weekend.

Ngā mihi nui,

Sarah and The Stonefields School Team

School Assemblies: Change of Date!

Apologies! We sent out a wrong date for one of our upcoming school assemblies in our last communications update. Please note that the Even Hubs Assembly (Hubs 2, 4, 8, 10, 12 & 14) will be on Monday 20th September. All other assembly dates & times remain the same:

  • Monday 16th August, 2.10 - 2.50pm: Junior Assembly

  • Friday 20th August, 2.10 - 2.50pm: Senior Assembly

  • Monday 6th September, 2.10 - 2.50pm: Hubs 1, 5, 7, 9, 11 & 15

  • (new date) Monday 20th September, 2.10 - 2.50pm: Hubs 2, 4, 8, 10, 12 & 14

Whānau are more than welcome to come along to any of our assemblies, and we would love to see you there!

Manaiakalani Whānau Survey

We would value your time in completing the Manaiakalani whānau survey. The data from these surveys is compiled with the rest of the Manaiakalani cluster of schools, and this is a big focus for the Manaiakalani Research Team this term. To learn more about Manaiakalani please click here.

Out of Zone Siblings

While Stonefields School does not accept out-of-zone enrolments we do try, where possible, to allow out-of-zone new entrant siblings of currently enrolled learners to be at school together. Each year our School Board looks at the current and predicted roll to determine if we are in a position to continue to make this exception. If you are a current parent of the school and have an out-of-zone pre-schooler due to start school in 2022, please email Sarah (sarah.fj@stonefields.school.nz) before Friday 20th August so that the Board can come to a decision as to whether or not a new-entrant only ballot is feasible.

Year 7 & 8 Uniform Refresh

After gathering the voice of our year 6-8 learners and their whānau at our Intermediate Years info evening last term, we have kicked off a focus group of learners, parents and teachers to bring to life a new Senior Uniform to recognise our Year 7 & 8 learners as leaders in the school. We are looking to roll out the new uniform in term 1 of 2022, and will share further communications as we progress along the design process.

School Orchestra

We are starting to build a school orchestra! If your child(ren) plays an orchestral instrument (e.g. violin, cello,. flute, clarinet, trumpet...) and would be interested in joining, we would love to hear from you. We rehearse on Tuesday lunchtimes at school. All levels are welcome as we have parts available for beginner, intermediate and more advanced levels, so they can just choose whatever they are comfortable with. Please contact Katherine Wilcox if your child is interested.

There's so much happening at Te Pātaka Ako! Our schedule is so jam-packed with workshops, seminars and activities it's hard to fit them all into one communication update. That's why we're excited to launch a dedicated Te Pātaka Ako site - this is where you will find information about everything that's happening in our wonderful Community Hub.

We're excited to hopefully have more learners taking part in gymnastics competitions next year!

Well done to our Yr 7 and 8 teams who battled against the elements and tough competition at the Eastern Zones Netball Tournament. The teams gave it their all and we were really proud of their teamwork and determination on the court.
