Tēnā Koutou Katoa,
It's hard to believe that we are nearing the end of Term 3 already! Despite the continued Level 4 lockdown, it has been fantastic to see the rich and wide array of learning taking place via SchoolTalk, padlets and numerous workshops.
This week we celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Maori Language Week) - Kia kaha te reo Māori | Let’s make the Māori language strong.
Ngā mihi nui,
Sarah and The Stonefields School Team
I felt it necessary to share further information with you about the reason for postponing the Teacher Only Day that was scheduled for earlier this week, 13 September. This TOD was focussing on designing learning for our term 4 topic - Scientific Phenomena. We had secured Nano Girl to run a hands-on professional learning experience for our staff; unfortunately due to the Level 4 restrictions they had no choice but to postpone. We have continued with the professional learning for staff virtually in readiness for our term 4 Science focus. We are still hopeful that Nano Girl can provide this professional learning for staff next term. We had also secured her for two live shows early next term for our children to launch the topic. Fingers crossed!
The Board has passed a resolution to offer limited placements at the New Entrant level only (Those in Year 0/1, who have not attended primary school before). These limited placements will cover the number of siblings of currently enrolled students who wish to gain a place at Stonefields within the 2021 ballot for placement in 2022. Typically this would only be one or two children. Please note this is for out of zone siblings only, not those who are residing in zone. Please click here to complete the form.
Our 2021 Community Survey should have arrived in your inbox earlier this week - a big thank you to those who have already taken the time to complete this! If you haven’t yet done so, there is still time - the survey will be live until Friday next week, 24th September.
The Stonefields School Board greatly values your voice and appreciates you taking five minutes to complete the community survey. The feedback gathered is used to ensure we continue to do the things that are working well, and that we continually improve outcomes for our learners and the school community.

Challenging behaviour is closely linked with communication and mental health.
Kids need help to talk about their feelings during Lockdown. Speech in Focus, Speech Pathology Services in partnership with Psychology In Sight will be giving back to the community by presenting a free community webinar for parents and carers of children.
You may have heard that a group of year 5 - 8 learners have been working with teachers and a focus group of parents to investigate and design an alternative uniform for years 7-8. The School Board are in support of this, and they approved the go-ahead following our presentation to them last night. To inform the decision making process we are gathering further learner, teacher and parent feedback on the options people like the most. Please take just one minute to have your say.
