We have started the Term with energy and enthusiasm by launching into our concept learning about Diversity. Learners are beginning to share artefacts that are special to them, their Toanga (treasure). Over the term, learners will be learning and discussing what makes them unique individuals - what are their similarities and differences. We will cover a range of topics like heritage/culture, friendships, strengths/talents and how individuals regulate their emotions.
Through this concept, our learners will share their perspectives, gain an understanding of each others uniqueness and develop a deeper sense of empathy for each other.
You have valuable knowledge and skills to share and we would love for you to be a part of our diversity learning journey. We are keen for you to come in and talk to your child's hub about your culture, heritage and traditions e.g. food, art, dance, traditional stories and other skills. Kindly get in touch with your child's hub teachers or your child's hub teachers may reach out to you.
Our EOTC Day last term was a huge success. Learners were engaged in a variety of collaborative games, with peers from across the Junior School. Making sandwiches for lunch was a great way to experience our values of 'Being our Best Self' and 'Bringing our Best Together'. Learners displayed our Learner Qualities as they took part in the various activities during the day. Thank you to all the parents who supported us to make this day successful.
The Learner Led Conferences will take place on Thursday 27th May.
This is an opportunity for you to be led by your child to understand what they are learning, how they are going and what their next learning steps are. During the 60 minute learner led conference, a hub teacher will have 10 minutes to share your child's progress update with you.
A reminder that the LLCs are not for Year 0 children, that is learners who start at the beginning of Term 2. Instead, you will have a 5-7 week connect with one of your child's hub teachers.
More information and how to book has been shared in the latest communication update.

Lost Property
We seem to have an increasing number of lost property, please ensure your child's uniform is clearly labelled. It will be helpful if you can add an identifiable appliqué or button on your child's polar fleece jacket and hat.
Parent Workshops Earlier last term, Anita Unka held a 'Reading Together Workshop' which was well received by parents. She will be running another session again this term and more information about this and other parent workshops will be sent to home soon.
FMS Through Gymnastics
This term we are fortunate to have secured a grant which will enable us to work with Eastern Suburbs Gymnastics Club to explore Fundamental Movement Skills through Gymnastics. Each hub will be visiting their gym for one session a week either on Monday or Thursday from 10th May - 1st July. Learners will be traveling to and from the venue on bus. Hub teachers will be in touch with what day and time your child will be attending.
What's on Top
Any feedback is welcomed. Of course we hear lots of positive feedback and if you have anything else you would like to address, please don't hesitate to email your child's hub teachers directly or contact Shoba Segar (Associate Principal) and Anita Unka (Leader of Learning Y0-2 & teacher in hub 2).
