Alert Level 4 Update:
Getting devices to your home

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

We were informed late yesterday by the Ministry of Education that a small group of staff would be able to enter the school site from today in order to organise chromebooks that may have been left at school. These can then be couriered or delivered to your home. Today we are prioritising years 3 - 8. Please read on below for the process of getting devices to your home if they have been left at school. We have also outlined next steps for our year 0-2 learners.

Years 3-8

Identifying who needs a device

The process we are working through to ensure year 3 - 8 learners have ‘Full access’ to a device is outlined below;

  1. Over the past two days teachers have been tracking to establish which learners have;

  • Full access

  • Partial access

  • No access

The information we’ve collected shows that the majority of our learners have full access - so far 88%. Our priority is to deliver devices to those who have ‘no access’ first, and to then work through those who have ‘partial access’. If teachers have not yet seen a child online, they will be phoning home to understand each family's device situation.

  1. A small team of teachers are onsite today gathering up the devices that were left at School to get them ready for delivery. If we are unable to find your child’s device, we will be in contact with you.

  2. Delivery of Devices. A staff member will drop the device at your door, knock and then social distance to ensure you receive the device.

To reiterate, no parents are allowed on the school site to collect resources or devices. Please be patient while we work through delivery.

Years 0-2

Year 0-2 Device Access

We would also like to gather information from families of year 0-2 children, so that we can get ready to deploy ipads next week, if it looks as though the lockdown will be extended. We have a limited number of ipads available. Please only complete this google form if you have no or very limited access to a device. We want to ensure we prioritise those families that have the greatest need.

Hard copy Packs Years 0-2

Our 14 knowledge builder card packs were designed to be our hard copy solution, in case of lockdown. Unfortunately we just missed out on these being printed in time - the proofs were due to us the day we went into lockdown. We are working through getting an exemption so that the printing of the hard copy packs of cards can commence during level 4. We will keep you updated.

Digital copies of the packs can be found here. We are developing further resources to support you in using the Knowledge Builders. These will be available Monday next week.
