What a wonderful day it has been welcoming all your children back to school. The school is abuzz with lots of excitement and laughter and we have loved seeing the learners settle straight back into school life and their learning.
We have had over 90% of learners return to school which is outstanding, thank you for your continued support not only today but through the recent lockdown too.

One of the key things COVID has taught us is how fortunate we are to have access to technology which allows us to continue to connect in real-time.
Our What's on in the Village connects will go ahead next week as planned but will now take place virtually or watch after the event at your leisure (recorded sessions will be shared with you following the event). Different year levels are scheduled on different days.
Below are the links for each Hub.

Hear about our learning philosophy and how learning happens in your child’s hub;
Learn about how you can help your child at home - SchoolTalk support;

We would like to reiterate the importance of parking and travelling around the school in a respectful and considerate manner. Please note the restrictions in place for parking on both Vialou Lane and Guyon Street at peak times. We also urge all learners walking/biking or scootering to school to please use the safety crossing on Guyon Street.

We currently have 1 Walking School Bus running at Stonefields School.
The Hurrying Hedgehogs walk down the mountain, leaving from the corner of Gollan and Harding Avenue at 8:20am, walking five mornings a week, year long.
The following outlines the standards of behaviour and routines expected of our walking school bus children:
Learners are expected to treat all WSB ‘drivers’ with the same respect they would treat Stonefields teachers.
All learners are to meet promptly at the chosen bus stop, at the agreed time
All learners must listen to the instructions of the drivers, for the safety of all travelling on the bus.
If a child is not travelling on the walking school bus, or there is a change to the normal travel arrangements, it is the responsibility of the parent to notify the walking school bus coordinator/"driver"
A high standard of behaviour is expected from all students on the walking school bus. They must walk sensibly between the flags and listen to all instructions by the ‘driver’. Students on the walking school bus are encouraged to display the Stonefields School values of Respect for self, others and the environment and Inclusiveness.
Please note parents are required to do a shift on the Walking School Bus

It was really exciting to have over 70 Yr 5 - 8 learners come to Softball trials last week. Sport at Stonefields are continuing to grow and as a result, we require more support to ensure we can provide opportunities for increasing numbers of learners.
The calendar of sports events for 2021 can be found on our Sports Website here. You can volunteer to help support with any sports event during the year here.
Preparation for the netball season is well underway. Just a reminder that Expressions of Interest are due by March 5th. If your child would like to play netball this year please complete the form here. We are still looking for a few more netball committee members. If you are keen to be involved please email lynnk@stonefields.school.nz
At Level 2 there will be no lunchtime sports training or inter-school competitions. Please keep an eye on our Sports website for updates on what is happening with sports as we move through the different COVID Levels.
