Testing CPU or processor.
Not all CPU and Motherboard are compatible with each other. Even though if the chip fits, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will work.
In order to determine which CPU is compatible with what motherboard you have to find out the model of the motherboard. After retrieving the model # of the motherboard, you must look up the specification of the motherboard to determine what CPUs are able to be used with that motherboard.
Remove power from the motherboard by either unplugging the power cord attached to the power supply or switching the power supply off. You should never attempt any removal or installation of hardware while power is still being provided.
Open the lever on the side of the CPU socket, gently remove CPU and store in a safe area.
Place the CPU to be tested in the socket with the triangle on the CPU lined with the triangle on the motherboard.
Close the lever on the side of the socket to secure the CPU in place.
Apply thermal paste the size of a dime to the CPU.
Put the heat sink back in place.
Put the power cord back in the power supply or turn the power switch back to the open position.
Turn on by pressing the power switch.
Test by accessing the computer bios to see the stats of the CPU.
If the computer does not turn on or bios cannot be accessed, we can determine the CPU is tested bad and needs to be recycled.
If you are able to turn on the computer and access bios to see the stats and configuration, we can determine the CPU has passed testing. Send to next step process for resale.
