Pollution Control Procedure
Effective Date: 01-07-22
Effective Date: 01-07-22
Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is to control and prevent the pollution of soil, water, and other environmental aspects through sound processing of wastes.
Scope
This process applies to all internal operations and activities which produce wastes.
Description of Activity
Disposal of Organic Wastes and Garbage
All organic wastes, including food, will be collected in waste receptacles dispersed through-out the facility. These receptacles will be collected and disposed of properly by ensuring they do not affect the environment and do not create any biological degradation and/or hazards.
Once a receptacle is filled, the receptacle is dumped into a larger dumpster outside of the facility and is periodically picked up by a local waste disposal municipality or contractor thereof.
Control & Prevention of Soil Pollution
SkyVine ITAD takes a number of preventive and corrective actions to control and/or prevent soil pollution. These measures include:
Identifying, repairing, and/or replacing valves on drums/tanks
Monitoring storage/transfer tanks while filling by checking quantity meters to avoid overflow
All hoses used to transfer chemicals are emptied before removing from drums/tanks before storage
Trays are used to contain pipes, flanges, valves, and other openings while transferring chemicals. Collected run-off is replaced back into the drum/tank
When a minor leak is observed, a tray is used to contain the leak immediately.
Storage tanks and valves are closed immediately in the case of a rupture in a line or pipe.
Pipelines are always drained-off after transferring chemicals to avoid pressure build-up in the pipeline and possible failure of valves/gaskets
All materials used to contain, or clean-up leaks are ensured to be disposed of properly and not disposed of in organic wastes/garbage receptacles.
Control & Prevention of Air Pollution
SkyVine ITAD takes a number of preventive and corrective actions to control and/or prevent air pollution. These measures include:
Vehicle drivers will not drive their vehicles at a speed faster than 15 miles per hour (MPH)
All vehicle engines will be stopped and shut down while loading/unloading
All vehicles will be inspected for valid explosive licenses/permits before entering the company premises if they are transporting hazardous explosive materials
Open exposure of oils is not permitted, and any leakages are immediately contained to avoid evaporation
All flammable materials are not permitted within the solvent storage area or near explosive materials
All grounds landscaping and plant life are cared for properly
Control & Prevention of Water Pollution
SkyVine ITAD takes a number of preventive and corrective actions to control and/or prevent water pollution. These measures include:
Water should never be mixed with oil
Clean drinking water is provided by a 3rd party company or through the city of Arlington, TX
The use of chemicals should be strictly cared for to ensure no contamination effects to humans, air, or water
Any samples retrieved from chemicals or water-mixtures must be contained and labeled properly
All water used to wash/clean equipment which may contain hazardous materials and/or chemicals will be tested for contamination and if failing for toxicity or if untested will be processed through an effluent treatment facility. If tested and not found to be failing for toxicity will be disposed with sewer system disposal.
