Competence, Training and Awareness Procedure

Purpose
To ensure persons working for SkyVine ITAD or on its behalf are aware of;
the requirements of the QEHS management system,
the importance of conformity with the QEHS policy and procedures,
the significant environmental aspects, health and safety hazard and related actual or potential impacts associated with their work,
the QEH&S benefits of improved personal performance,
their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformity with the requirements of the QEHS management system, and
the potential consequences of departure from specified procedures.
Responsibility and Authority
The QEH&S Management Representative and Operations Manager shall have the responsibility and authority to ensure conformance to the activities described in this procedure.
Procedure
The Operations Manager shall ensure that any persons performing tasks for it or on its behalf that have the potential to affect product quality, cause a significant environmental impact or whose works involves a health and safety hazard is identified by SkyVine ITAD and is competent on the basis of appropriate education, training or experience, and will retain associated records.
Employees
The QEHS Management Rep shall identify the training needs of employees associated with its product requirements, environmental aspects, health and safety hazards, data security requirements and its QEHSMS on the Training Needs Matrix.
The QEH&S Management Rep and Operations Manager shall promote and reinforce overall QEH&S awareness through communication of operational performance measures and tracking of objectives and targets.
Management communicates commitment to the QEH&S policy through postings on bulletin boards and employee safety meetings.
All new employees shall receive QEH&S general awareness training as part of new employee orientation. Records shall be retained.
Additional training for those individuals whose jobs could have a significant impact on the quality, environment, health and safety shall be given through procedure training.
Training materials shall address the importance of employee conformance with QEHS policies and procedures, benefits of improved performance, employee roles and responsibilities including emergency preparedness and response and potential consequences of departure from specified procedures.
Competence shall be determined through observation, inspections and job performance review and recorded on the Training and Competency Record.
The QEH&S Management Rep and Operations Manager are responsible for maintaining all training records for employees.
Contractors
All Contractors must sign in and out at the front desk and must agree to abide by SkyVine ITAD’s Visitor and Contractor EHS Requirements. The SkyVine ITAD employee, whom the Contractor is reporting to, has the responsibility to ensure the I Lobby sign-in system is complete and the Contractor has agreed to the Visitor and Contractor EHS Requirements.
On-site Contractors that could have a significant impact on the environment, or whose work involves health and safety hazards, shall be competent to perform tasks. Such contractors include;
Electrical Contractors
HVAC Contractors
Equipment or Vehicle Maintenance Contractors
Identified contractors shall receive on-site training which consists of the Operations Manager reviewing the Visitor & Contractor EHS Requirements with the Contractor. Competence shall be determined through observation and inspection by the Operations Manager. Records of training shall be retained.
