Listservs
Listserv Information
To connect or "subscribe" to the 'members only' ELC-C listserv that supports Council business between meetings, use the prompts at: the eLC Listserv Website to enter your email address and select a password.
You can edit your profile, changing how you get posts, etc., using the same link. Use the prompt "Unsubscribe or edit options" toward the bottom of the page. If you don't recall your password, it will be a two-step process; 1) request the password "Remind" button at the bottom of the screen, then check your email Inbox for the password message. Return to that page with the password and login using the top section.
If you want to know who from your institution is a subscriber, you can view the list using that same link. In the lower section of the screen, enter the email address you've used to subscribe and your password. (It is sent to you via email the 1st of each month from the system.) You can also send a command to the listserv as follows:
start a new email message when logged into the account you used to subscribe
address it to elc-request@lists.ctc.edu
leave the subject blank
enter the command in the body: who <your password>
delete any other text in the body, like your signature information
click send and watch for the reply message in your inbox.
For those of you who also serve as the Canvas, Panopto, or WAOL administrators for your college, sign up for and manage that listserv here: http://lists.ctc.edu/mailman/listinfo/waol-admin_lists.ctc.edu.
Those specifically interested in Canvas topics can subscribe to http://lists.ctc.edu/mailman/listinfo/wa_canvas.
More recently added is a listserv for our growing group of folks supporting Instructional Design efforts and services at our campuses, call WeDesign: http://lists.ctc.edu/mailman/listinfo/wedesign
Routinely, faculty and other administrators who don't engage with the business of the ELC want to subscribe somewhere to keep up with the news. The site we used to use before creating the "closed" listserv still exists and is listed on the SBCTC-IT site as "eLearning (formerly CODE)". I believe that is unmoderated and can be used by all: http://lists.ctc.edu/mailman/listinfo/elearning.
Unfortunately, not all Council members are subscribed and we tend to post news items appealing to a broad audience on the ELC "Closed" list. Which is easier to change, our behavior and subscription patterns, or the "closed" nature of the ELC listserv? Is there still a need to engage in work and keep it out of sight of others? Would it be a disservice to the general college users to open up the ELC and bombard them with our work activities? Add comments below and maybe we'll put it on the next meeting agenda!
