Notes from Winter 2017 IC Meeting, as it relates to CBE
Mary at Olympic said that she didn’t consider prof tech when she filled out the survey. Some people may include it and others may not. Not all prof tech is CBE. We’ll just see what the survey results are.
The ctcLink continuing ed tool is no good and needs to be replaced.
Mark Jenkins had the idea to see if CBE could be a requirement of the tool. This could possibly address the ctcLink issue. IC voted to recommend an RFP, but it's possible there is still time to comment on the requirements. WAC felt the scope was too broad and had narrowed the scope of requirements, but it doesn't preclude us from joining that conversation
Still comes back to the question of what is CBE.
We can better define what it is and how it works.
We need to help IC “frame out the innovation”.
Mark Jenkins - Think about a platform that would work for policies and technical solutions no matter what school you were from. Would be good for workforce. Also, let’s work together since he and Melissa from CBC are writing a “Lessons Learned” paper on the CBE Business DTA program.
Policy issue - if students complete more classes faster, would they pay more?
What kind of flexibility do we need to define credits or financial aid?
