Work Group Leader: Stephanie
Work Group Secretary: Tina
Work Group Members: Cynthia Foreman
SBCTC lead: Mark Carbon
GOAL
1. Promote the existing and free tools that are available to campus community. Elluminate/Collaborate, Tegrity, Google Apps, Doodles, other web tools.
Identify our audience: Reach out to non-eLearning departments or groups: FTF, student services, advising, library, student groups & clubs
Identify Tools: Doodle, Elluminate/collaborate, Google Docs top 3 useful tools for communication by staff.
2. Strategic Positioning - eLearning has to be strategic in showing how our departments and tools can support the system during budget difficulties and can support colleges in meeting challenges.
Beginning of Action Plan
Attend unit meetings to build awareness
Schedule workshops and encourage attendance. Record workshops and stream them for people who need to move at a slower pace.
Coordinate efforts with Faculty Development, Staff Development, Instructional Design & eLearning
Team did not meet at Fall 2011 meeting, but ELC determined that this workgroup should continue and that strategic thinking should be infused into all of our efforts this year.
New Action Items Discussed:
1. Ask eLC members to report on how they build awareness of eLearning/technical tools available for use on our campus by faculty, staff, and students.
Example of how Clark College builds awareness of tech tools at 30 Clicks Gatherings: not a workshop, just a 30 minute demonstration. http://library.clark.edu/?q=30-clicks
This item is now on our Shared Resources page: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Bth0UKNeGSfwto3WU0zT4zAoSdVZb8akGEwzk_rMP-g/edit .
2. Communicate with other councils and commissions to build awareness of what is already available to prevent unnecessary spending and duplication of efforts.
3. Communicate accross our own campuses to help prevent duplication of efforts and unnecessary spending.
