Goals
Assist the system colleges in understanding and employing new eLearning Trends
Expected Outcomes
Identify best practices for providing faculty professional development with educational technology.
Develop replicable and scalable strategies for increasing professional development opportunities for supporting faculty professional development of educational technology.
Explore and evaluate new ed tech trends using research based methods. Examples of trends to explore:
mobile devices
CBE/badging
learning analytics
IC Workplan
Below are the IC workplan objectives that our workgroup work fits into.
2.1 - Our workgroup is exploring educational technology tools that can help improve student access and success.
2.2 - Our workgroup is exploring badges, social learning and competency-based education and this fits well with the work done with this objective.
3.1 - Our workgroup is exploring learning analytics, which are a key piece of evidence that drives institutional decision making.
3.2 - The use of innovative and effective ed tech can support and improve high quality eLearning for students.
3.3 - One of the members of the workgroup is in a pilot college and we will be exploring the ed tech options within the PeopleSoft environment.

2.2.a. Expand innovative credit for prior learning opportunities on campuses (including veterans).
3.1.a Work through the state ATD plan (annual regional workshops) to provide professional development opportunities for administrators, faculty, and IR representatives to use data and implement best practices for building a culture of evidence.
3.2a. Provide professional development opportunities for faculty to increase use and effectiveness of Open Education Resources and instructional learning technology tools.

2.1 Report on expansion of HS 21+ from CBS June 2015.
2.2.a. Review of progress to date on granting CPL.
3.1.a. Report on adaptation of culture of evidence practices.
3.2.a. Report regarding actual use of OER and provide summary of faculty professional development.
3.3 Prepare any necessary policy recommendations for implementation with ctcLink
2.1 Increase student access and success.
2.2 Explore learning options that hold student competencies as a fixed factor and time as variable factors in learning
3.1 Improve the ability of colleges to develop a culture of evidence to drive institutional decision making.
3.2 Support and improve high quality eLearning for students including online, hybrid, and enhanced courses that improves teaching and learning.

Summary of our research plan: Our survey will gather the following information about institutions in our system regarding the three ed. tech. trends:

Our end goal is to provide a focus on creating a business-like model for how we would/should implement these trends on our campus.
Winter Quarter 2015 Meeting Minutes:
1. We finalized the recent draft of survey.
2. We are also using Marc Lentini's Survey on Badges:
3. The results will be finalized and collated by the Winter eLC meeting.
4. Our end goal is to provide a focus on creating a business-like model for how we would/should implement these trends on our campus.
5. Alyson will send reminders to eLC members and we'll continue with our monthly Collaborate meetings.
