Our goals for the 2017-2018 academic year:
Encourage sharing in Canvas Commons with an OpenWa tag
Support Boyoung's project to design a best practices guide/model for college-wide OER adoption. (links to IC workplan 3.3a)
Continue to collaborate with the Library Directors/CLAMS
Continue to encourage moving Open courses beyond replacing expensive texts. The goal is to encourage Open Pedagogy as part of course design. (links to IC workplan 2.1d and 3.3a)
From the IC workplan:
2.1 Increase student access and success
2.1d Demonstrate leadership in equity and access in eLearning (OER, Professional Development)
3.3 Support Open initiatives (open educational resources, open pedagogies)
3.3a Assure broad conceptualization through collaboration.
3.3b Demonstrate promising practices that enhance student success through Open.
From the Spring 2018 meeting:
Notes on accomplishments achieved that align with the eLC and IC work plan:
Due to the collaboration between eLC and LLC, there was a professional development track at the Washington Annual Canvas Users Conference (WACC) of librarians presenting on OER best practices.
The eLC OER Workgroup provided a lot of support with design and distribution to students regarding the OER code survey and helped spread the word to faculty about the low cost textbook code survey.
The eLC OER Workgroup continues to promote equity by encouraging all OER course materials to be accessible from the point of adoption.
The universities were recently allocated funding to start OER projects. The eLC OER Workgroup plans to reach out to the universities to proved advice and support.
