Offertory Anthem: “Canticle of Zechariah”, By: Richard Jeffrey

Choir: Blest be the God of Israel who comes to set us free!

Now our redemption is at hand, God’s wondrous love we see.

Salvation’s dawn is breaking forth from David’s royal line;

the prophet’s words are now fulfilled by this, a living sign.

God saved us from our enemies and took away our fear

that we might worship Him alone whose help is always near.

Behold, a Holy Child has come, a gift from God most high,

Who shall forgive us of our sins, for God has heard our cry.

The tender mercy of our God, like light that breaks on high,

has shone on those who live in fear; their dark night passes by.

The path of peace is now in sight; Rejoice, O Israel!

The Holy Child has come to us, our Lord Emmanuel.

Doxology: Hymn 380, Stanza 3

Holy: S125, Proulx

Communion Anthem: “Canticle of Zechariah”, Tune: Forest Green

Choir: Blest be the God of Israel, the everliving Lord,

You come in pow’r to save your own, your people Israel.

For Israel you now raise up salvation’s tow’r on high,

In David’s house, who reigned as king and servant of the Lord.

Through holy prophets did you speak your word in days of old,

That you would save us from your foes and all who bear us ill.

To our ancestors did you give your covenant of love;

So with us all you keep your word in love that knows no end.

Of old you gave your solemn oath to father Abraham:

Whose seed a mighty race should be and blest forevermore.

You vowed to set your people free from fear of ev’ry foe,

That we might serve you all our days in goodness, love, and peace.

The rising sun shall shine on us to bring the light of day

To all who dwell in darkest night and shadow of the grave.

Our footsteps God shall safely guide to walk the ways of peace;

Whose name forevermore be blest, who lives and loves and saves.
