Processional Hymn: 441 In the Cross of Christ I Glory

Gospel Hymn: 495 Hail, Thou Once Despised Jesus

Offertory Anthem: Harvest Song

Sing to the Lord of harvest,

Sing songs of love and praise;

With joyful hearts and voices

Your alleluias raise!

By Him the rolling seasons

In fruit order move;

Sing to the Lord of harvest

A joyous song of love.

By Him the clouds drop fatness,

The deserts bloom and spring,

The hills leap up in gladness,

The valleys laugh and sing.

He filleth with His fullness

All things with large increase;

He crowns the year with goodness,

With plenty, and with peace.

Bring to His sacred altar

The gifts His goodness gave,

The golden sheaves of harvest,

The souls He died to save.

Your hearts lay down before Him

When at his feet you fall,

And with your lives adore Him,

Who gave His life for all.

Communion Anthem: For Thy Gracious Blessings

For Thy gracious blessings,

For Thy wond’rous Word,

For Thy loving kindness,

We give thanks, O Lord.

Today’s Offertory Anthem, “Harvest Song” is a setting of a hymn text, “Sing to the Lord of Harvest” by John S. B. Monsell (1811-1875). His text is based on the second half of Psalm 65. For example, Psalm 65:8, “The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.” In simple, vivid language, we thank the Lord for the harvest (stanzas 1-2) and offer to God the harvest of our lives (stanza 3).
