Spring Warrior

[ community & post office established 2 Dec 1878 - discontinued 30 Sept 1909 ]

James J. Bethea and family lived in the Spring Warrior area.

 

M. R. Strickland came to Taylor County and established Turpentine operations at Melvina and Spring Warrior.

 

The Green B. Weaver family settled on the Middle Warrior where they operated a farm. Weaver was a contract mail carrier from Athena to Thelma via Lake Joe. Later he was appointed postmaster of Spring Warrior. They were leaders in the establishment of New Hope Methodist Church

 

The Spring Warrior community had a Home Demonstration Club.
