June 7th 1921 City of Perry Council minutes
The Council met this day in regular session those present and answering to their names were C. M. Callicutt, J. C. Calhoun, D. L. Faircloth, G. O. Hingson and L. V. Hester. A quorum present.
The meeting was called to order by the president and the following business transacted:
Reading of the minutes of the two last meetings was approved.
A committee of ladies present and presenting a petition of citizens of the Town of Perry, asking for a lease on the SE Corner of Block 15 of the original Town of Perry, Florida for a period of 50 years for the purpose of erecting a club house for the Woman's Club of Perry, Florida and after some discussion the matter was deferred until next Thursday the 9th.

June 9th 1921 City of Perry Council minutes
The Council met this day in special session, present C. M. Callicutt President, D. L. Faircloth and J. C. Calhoun. A quorum present.
The purpose of the meeting as stated by councilman Faircloth is to act on petition of citizens requesting that the Town of Perry lease to the Woman's Club of Perry, Florida a lot of land which is described as follows: 65 feet North and South and 100 feet East and West being in the South East corner of Block 15 in the original town of Perry, Florida and to grant to the said Woman's Club the right to build a club house on the said lot of land.
Upon motion made seconded and duly carried that said petition be granted and that the Town of Perry lease to the Woman's Club of Perry, Florida for a period of not more than 50 years the aforesaid lot the City Attorney is hereby directed to prepare the above lease specifying that the land is to be used solely for the purpose of building a club house thereon.
There being no further business the council adjourned subject to call.

December 5th 1922 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in regular session, present, C. M. Callicott, Pres., Councilmen, C. C. Hingson, B. O'Quinn, J. C. Calhoun and J. C. Ellis, a full board present.
Council was called to order by the president and the following business transacted. Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted.
Councilman Hingson made motion that the Mayor instruct the police to prohibit the shooting of guns and pistols over town when a fire occurs, only the police or any person who turns in the alarm to be allowed to discharge such firearms, said motion was duly carried and the Mayor was instructed to have the Ordinance prohibiting shooting of fire arms in the City limits rigidly enforced.

Council met on the above date in regular session, present, B. O'Quinn, President Council Protem, Councilmen, C. M. Callicut, H. L. Hays and T. J. Swanson, a quorum present, the meeting was called to order by the President pro-tem and the following business transacted.
Minutes of last meeting were read and adopted, reports from committees were called for but none were submitted.
The matter of equipping the fire truck with pneumatic tires in place of the solid tires now being used was taken up and after discussion the matter thoroughly the clerk was instructed to get prices on such equipment and also order necessary supplies for the fire department.
November 4 1924 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on above date in regular session, present John C. Calhoun, President, Councilmen, B. O'Quinn, C. M. Callicut, H. L. Hays and T. J. Swanson, all members present. The meeting was called to order by the president and the following business transacted.
Minutes of the last meeting was read and adopted as read.
Fire Chief R. T. Carraway asked the council to purchase raincoats, hats and boots for the members of the fire department and after a discussion of the matter upon motion made by Councilman Swanson, seconded by Councilman Hays which was duly carried the Clerk was instructed to purchase same at the best price obtainable.
Mr. Paul Poppell representing a number of the cattle men of the surrounding territory was present and asked the council to have the cows and hogs drove out of town instead of impounding them and that the expense of such would be set by those entering into the agreement. Upon motion by Councilman Swanson seconded by Councilman Hays which was duly carried the matter was referred to Chief E. P. Parker who was authorized to make such arrangements with those desiring to enter into such agreement and submit the same to the Council at their next regular meeting.
December 1 1924 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in Special session. Present John C. Calhoun, President, Cpouncilmen, B. O'Quinn, C. M. Callicut, H. L. Hays and T. J. Swanson, all members present. The meeting was called to order by the president who stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider trading for a new Fire Engine.
Mr. J. H. Housley representating the American-LaFrance Fire Engine Company was present and made the following proposal. That he would furnish the City with a new, latest improved, Type 75 Triple Combination Chemical Hose and 750 gallon capacity pumper, said truck to be equipped with pneumatic tires, extension ladders and other equipment as is ordinarily furnished with a new truck for the sum of $12,500.00 and except the old truck now owned by the City in the trade and allow the City the sum of $3,000.00 for said truck and allow the same to remain in use until the delivery and acceptance of the new truck and any that the City would not be held liable for any damage that might occur to said truck. In addition to the allowance of $3,000.00 on the old truck the City would be called upon to pay the sum of $1,000.00 upon delivery and acceptance of the new truck and that the remaining $8,500.00 would be divided into six (6) notes payable annually, said notes to be for the sum of $1,742.50 each, including interest at the rate of six (6) percent.
After a through discussion of the matter and upon motion duly made and carried, same was carried over to the regular meeting to be held Tuesday, December 2, 1924.
There being no further business Council upon motion adjourned.

September 7, 1926 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in regular session, present, W. T. Wilkes, T. J. Swanson, John C. Calhoun, H. L. Hays and R. H. Wilder, all members present.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted.
The Chairman of the Water and Fire Committee reported that the committee had temporarily relieved Fire Chief R. T. Carraway for neglect of duty and that they had placed Mr. Wilford Giddens in charge until the matter could be handled by the Council, after a discussion of the charges preferred by the committee against Mr. Carraway, it was upon motion made and duly carried ordered that he be permanently relieved as chief of the Perry Fire Department and that he be instructed to turn over all equipment and etc; in his charge to Mr. Giddens and when such equipment and etc; was delivered by Mr. Carraway that the Treasurer be authorized to draw voucher payable to him for any salary that might be due him up to and including Saturday, September 4, 1926.
September 21, 1926 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in regular session, present, W. T. Wilkes, T. J. Swanson, John C. Calhoun, H. L. Hays and R. H. Wilder, all members present.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted.
Mr. W. L. Weaver and Mr. George E. Porter were present and asked the Council to consider paving North Calhoun Street in front of the School Buildings the full width of the street instead of thirty (30) feet as the present plans call for, on account of the congestion of traffic while the school is running. This matter was discussed and upon motion made and duly carried, it was carried over for further discussion and consideration.
Mr. W. L. Weaver, representing the Parker Motor Company, was present and asked if it would be possible to get the streets around their new garage building paved at once, or among the first streets to be paved. In order to get the work done before they moved into the new building. Mr. Weaver was informed that the streets named were among the first to be paved and work would start at once.
March 6, 1928 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in regular session, present T. J. Swanson, John C. Calhoun, R. H. Wilder, H. T. Wilkes and G. O. Hingson, all present.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted.
Mr. J. C. O'Rouke representing The Wilson Lumber Company was present and ask the Council to grade and pave a street leading South from San Pedro Avenue to the South City Limits and that the County Commissioners had agreed to pave from City limits to their Mill. Upon motion made and duly carried the Street Committee was instructed to investigate the street asked for and report at the next regular session of the Council to be held March 20th.
Representatives from the Ben Lindsey Motor Co. and the Parker Motor Co. were present and submitted prices on different model cars and upon motion made and duly carried the bid of the Parker Motor Co. on a Ford two door sedan equipped with bumpers and spare tire at $625.50 was accepted to be delivered immediately.
Upon motion made and duly carried the Town Council accepted the proposal of R. H. Wilder to sell the town approximately two and two thirds acres situated in the Blair and Himley Addition to be used for a dumping ground and impounding pen at price of $1000.00 and the Clerk was instructed to issue a warrant in payment thereof after the City Attorney had approved the Title to said property.
March 20, 1928 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in regular session, present T. J. Swanson, John C. Calhoun, R. H. Wilder, H. T. Wilkes and G. O. Hingson, all present.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted.
Mr. Giddens, Chief of the Fire Department requested the Council to have certain hdrants raised on account of being too low to couple to and have a new hydrant installed at the corner of Quincy and Cherry Streets and upon motion made and duly carried the Clerk was instructed to get prices on hydrant extension and hydrants.
Upon motion made and duly carried the Clerk was instructed to take insurance on the Fire Truck and Fire Department Supplies and also on the Police Department car, from Gaston & Swanson Insurance Agents.
Upon motion made and duly carried the Fire Chief was authorized to have the hood of the Fire Truck repainted and lettered.
May 10, 1928 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in special session, present T. J. Swanson, John C. Calhoun, R. H. Wilder, H. T. Wilkes and G. O. Hingson, all present.
The Sanitary Committee reported that they had received bids on a truck for use by the department and upon motion made and duly carried the following bids were opened and read.
Bid of Parker Motor Co. for one 1 1/2 ton Ford truck with dual transmission and closed cab $776.00 less an allowance of $75.00 on the old truck to be traded in.
Bid of Ben Lindsey Motor Co. for one 1 1/2 ton Chevrolet truck with closed cab, 4 speed transmission, bumper and motor meter $734.00 less an allowance of $100.00 on the old truck to be traded in.
After discussion the above bids it was upon motion made and duly carried ordered that the Sanitary Committee be authorized to trade for Chevrolet Truck on the basis of the above bid and the Town Treasurer was instructed to issue warrant for $634.00 in favor of the Ben Lindsey Motor Company.

Mr. Earl Loughridge was present and asked the Town to refund a portion of the license paid by him for the operation of a pool room and picture show inasmuch as both were discontinued on January 1, 1930. Upon motion made and duly carried the matter was referred to the City Attorney for an operation.
January 29, 1930 City of Perry Council minutes
Mr. W. L. Weaver, Mr. J. H. Loughridge and Dr. D. D. Roberts were present and presented their request for adjustment of taxes for the years 1925, 1926, 1927 and 1928 and after discussing the matter it was upon motion and duly carried laid over until the next regular meeting of the Town Council.
February 4, 1930 City of Perry Council minutes
Dr. Roberts was again present asking for a further reduction in taxes and upon motion made and duly carried he was allowed a reduction of 25 per cent on property situated in Block 9 of the original Town of Perry and a reduction of 50 per cent on property situated in the Massey Brothers Addition, providing all outstanding tax certificates against said property were redeemed.
Mr. W. L. Weaver was present representing the First National Bank and asked for a reduction of 75 per cent on outstanding tax sale certificates against property situated in the S. H. Peacock Addition North and Peacock Highlands Sub Divison formerly belonging to B. L. Peacock and offered to deed to the Town without cost certain lots fronting on North Center Street and upon motion made and duly carried the proposition was accepted and a reduction of 75 per cent was granted.
May 6, 1930 City of Perry Council minutes
The Clerk reported that a note at The Perry Banking Co. for $2000.00 and a note at The First National Bank for $2000.00, were due and that funds were available to pay them and upon motion made and duly carried ordered that both notes be paid from the General Revenue Fund.
June 3, 1930 City of Perry Council minutes
Mr. Puckett representing the Dixie Taylor Hotel was present and asked for a reduction of the assessed value of the personal property belonging to the hotel for the reason that the present assessment of $20,000.00 was far in excess of the purchase price of the property and submitted figures showing the actual cost and upon motion made and duly carried the assessment was reduced from $20,000.00 to $12,000.00 and the tax collector was instructed to charge same to error in assessment.
June 25, 1930 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in special session, present G. O. Hingson, John C. Calhoun, A. C. Kerby, B. O'Quinn and T. J. Swanson. All members present.
The president stated the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the damage to the fire truck by a recent fire and to purchase the necessary hose and etc; which was burned and after through discussion of the matter it was upon motion made and duly carried ordered that the Town Clerk be instructed to wire the American LaFrance and Feamite Ind. Inc. to send a representative to check up the damage, also order a wheel and 500 feet of fire hose to be shipped by express at once.
There being no further business Council upon motion made and duly carried adjourned.
July 8, 1930 City of Perry Council minutes
Mr. Porter Tucker was present and asked the Council for permission to take down the curb and install gasoline pumps in front of building on South Jefferson Street Block 60 belonging to L. V. Hester and upon motion made and duly carried the matter was referred to the street committee.
Upon motion mad and duly carried the following schedule of salaries was announced effective August 1, 1930
Chief of Police $175.00 per month and car until disposal made of Town Car. The expense of the car to be paid by him.
Night Police $115.00 per month, furnish own car as needed.
Town Clerk $150.00 per month
Chief Fire Department $100.00 per month

The Airport Committee from the Chamber of Commerce was present and submitted a lease on eighty (80) acres of land south of the city limits, which J. H. Parker and wife had agreed to lease to the Town without charge for a period of three (3) years for use as an Airport and after discussion the matter it was upon motion made and duly carried, ordered that the Town accept said lease and said motion further provided that Mayor C. L. Brandon be appointed manager of the said Airport.

Council met on the above date in regular session. Present, G. O. Hingson, Paul Bird, H. L. Hays, T. J. Swanson and H. T. Wilkes. All members present.
Meeting of last meeting were read and adopted.
Mr. T. B. Puckett was present and advised the Council that he would consider the purchase of a lot at corner of Washington and Green Streets, subject to taxes due state and county, the matter was discussed and decision deferred. Mr. Puckett also asked the Council for a reduction on the assessed value of lot at corner of Green and Quincy streets, stating that a filling station would be erected there and that the improvements would be assessed to the oil company operating the station. Upon motion made and duly carried, the assessment was reduced from $3250.00 to $2000.00.
A letter was read from S. W. Cason, Principal of the Perry School asking for permission to close Railroad Street from Calhoun Street to South Georgia Railroad, for the purpose of making playgrounds. Upon motion made and duly carried, the matter was referred to the street committee.
December 20, 1932 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in regular session. Present, G. O. Hingson, Paul Bird, H. L. Hays, T. J. Swanson and H. T. Wilkes. All members present.
Meeting of last meeting were read and adopted.
Mr. J. L. Gibson was present and asked permission to erect a news stand in the Court House yard, at the southeast corner of the yard and after a discussion of the matter it was, upon motion, deferred until the City Attorney ruled on the question of whether the Town had authority to grant such a permit.
May 9, 1933 City of Perry Council minutes

President pro tem, T. J. Swanson, presided and called the meeting to order and stated the purpose of the meeting was to consider and Ordinance that had been prepared by the City Attorney.
The Chairman of the Laws and Ordinance Committee, submitted proposed Ordinance number 245, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF NEGOTIABLE CERTIFICATES OF INDEBTEDNESS BY THE TOWN OF PERRY, FLORIDA, KNOWN AS SCRIP AND PROVIDING THAT THE SAME MAY BE RECEIVED IN PAYMENT OF CERTAIN TAXES AND OTHER INDEBTNESS DUE SAID MUNICIPALTY.
Whereupon Ordinance No. 245 passed title as stated above and the same was ordered certified to the Mayor for his approval.
June 20, 1933 City of Perry Council minutes
Council met on the above date in regular session. Present, H. L. Hays, T. J. Swanson and H. T. Wilkes, absent Paul Bird and G. O. Hingson.
D. Michelson of the Quality Store was present and asked for a reduction of the assessed value of his stock and upon motion made and duly carried, the assessment was reduced from $5000.00 to $3000.00 and the collector was instructed to charge the same to an error in assessment.

Employees of the Town made complaint with reference to discount charged them on city script and after a discussion, ordered that the Town Treasurer pay additional ten per cent on salaries and wages to take care of the discount charged in handling.
