Yesterday was my first full day at home, I waited in bed until 10am but the tea and breakfast trolley never turned up. The house seemed very quiet after the noises of the hospital. Even though I was in my own room there were always noises from the corridor. So I put music on and watched some TV…
During my stay in hospital I lost about 4lb, which at any other time would have been great, that actually has taken me down to my target weight. Given the treatment I had I actually think that was not too bad. Over the next week it would be good to build myself back up a bit.
Isabel and I have been though some of our favourite cook books to find some nice meals that we can make together over the next few days… and placed our online order. Due to my low neutrophils level I have to be careful about what I can eat.
There is a long list but basically I can’t eat:
- Things with raw eggs in them
- Any food that has been sitting out in the shop – so nothing from the deli counter.
- Fruit that can’t be peeled eg. strawberries
- Vegetables unless they are peeled and cooked – roast potatoes are still ok!
- No salad (can’t peel or cook it)
- No takeaways
- Foods containing natural bacteria – like natural yoghurt
The one thing that did surprise us was I should not have still bottled water.
… 9k on the bike yesterday…
