Well I’m back…
Back to room ‘C’ on ward 22, the same room I was in last time. I just need to put up my pictures and get well cards and it will feel like I have never been away.
Yesterday morning things happened quite quickly, I got my Hickman Line cleaned and the bone marrow taken by about 11am. But then had to wait until 2pm for my first set of chemo, it is one of the drugs I have had before - Cytarabine. This time I am on high dose which means it comes in a drip bag and takes four hours to be administered. One of the side effects must be eye problems because I now need to get eye drops. I am not good with people putting things in my eyes, I find the self administer injection in my stomach easier (which I need to have until my platelet count drops).
I then spent the rest of the day in the Macmillan day unit (big room with lots of chairs). It was about 7pm when they actually had my room cleaned and ready for me. So Isabel and James then brought all my stuff in.
After that Isabel had a big night:
9:00 pm - James told her he had put a raisin up his nose (I guess it seems like a good idea when you are seven)
9:30pm - NHS direct recommended they go to A&E, so they book into A&E with ‘Suspected raisin up nose’
00:30am - They saw a doctor who could not see anything and sent them to Ear Nose & Throat
01:00am - Seen by a specialist who used two cameras and was confident there was nothing up there… then James sneezed out a raisin!
So I picked a good day to come back in…
…Hope to get back on the exercise bike for a few k today…
