It looks like my hair has all but stopped falling out and the bit I have left is actually growing - Isabel may have to get the clippers out again…
Still no sign of the blood counts moving, and no doctors visit today so I will not get the next update until Monday morning. As I’m sure I have said before this appears to be normal - everybody restarts at a different speed (Just spoke to a nurse who confirmed everybody is different and she has seen somebody go as long as 28 days post chemo before things happen, I‘m on day 13!).
The bunting and flag has made quite an impression here, all the staff think it is great. I even get staff that aren’t looking after me coming round to see. There is a picture of it that Isabel took yesterday that we will post in the next few days - although I’m not sure it is a good idea being pictured as a skin head wearing a union jack flag…
Well it has happen at last (it always does when I go somewhere new). Two of the support staff came to the door to get me to settle an argument. I was beckoned to the door where one of them asked where I was from. Having had this happen to me many times in the past I now always reply by asking where they thought I was from (and always with a grin). After a little hesitation the first said Scotland, I replied I was born in Ireland and grew up in Scotland. At which point the other staff member in an Irish accent, and with some glee I might add, informed her friend - I told you so. Part of the argument was along the lines of somebody from Scotland would not be decorating their room in Union Jacks…
Mum and John arrived safely yesterday, they even had time to pop in for half an hour, I will be seeing a lot more of them today.
… A new exercise has been added into my daily routine - standing up. I have realised that I just don’t stand up, even the exercise bike is sitting down. So I have set myself the target of standing up for at least 10 minutes every hour for 6 hrs during the day. The first time I tried it, it felt more difficult than the exercise bike…
… 9k on the exercise bike again yesterday…
