Well everything appears to be moving (except me)…
My blood counts are on the up
Haemoglobin - Carries oxygen round the body - doctors seem to be happy
Platelets - Helps blood clotting for cuts etc – Up, into acceptable range
Neutrophils - Fight infections – stuck on 0.1 (normal range 2 to 4)
The platelets being up is good, the only problem is I now need an injection in my stomach to help thin my blood because of all the sitting about I’m doing. The first time I had this in cycle 1 the nurse made me do it myself because I may have to do it at home sometime. So I have kept on doing it myself, which surprises some of the nurses when I ask to take the syringe. I think they use the smallest needle know to man because I can virtually not feel it and it is helping me with my dislike of injections.
As I have said before the one to watch is the Neutrophils, last time the let me home when they past 0.5, but I suspect that was because I had been in for five weeks and they were worried about cabin fever. They have not said what the cut off point is this time round. One of the nurses last night said I could be released next week, a different nurse said I could be out this week… Best plan is just to sit back and wait to see what happens.
Isabel brought lunch in again yesterday which was very nice, although she was not very happy that I took an anti-sickness tablet straight afterwards (it was prescribed, I did not ask for it…).
Karen is was good to see you again yesterday evening… for people who visited during cycle one, please remember I’m in a different room - Room ’C’, still on ward 22.
Yesterdays course topic was intuition, which was not as obvious as you might think.
… 9 k on the exercise bike again yesterday, it’s taking a bit longer than usual at the minute, not sure if I’m just not as fit or if it is a motivation thing…
