It would appear that my hair is putting up quite a fight, I would estimate about only 35% has fallen out so far. I’m not sure what I was expecting - possibly to wake up one morning to find it all on the pillow. I am sure everybody is different but it has actually been quite a slow process for me. If I run my hand through my hair it comes back covered in hair. So yesterday Isabel cut it a bit shorter and will probably cut it even shorter today (there will be more pictures…).
The wig lady came yesterday - to see yourself in a new hairstyle is initially quite a shock (I have had this hair cut for 25 years!). So we have agreed on the colour of hair, which will be a bit lighter than my original which we don’t think is a big problem because when my hair comes back it will most likely be white (colour should, hopefully eventually return to it). The wig was not styled so to be honest looked a bit 1970’s. We discussed how it could be styled to be more ‘me’ (what do you mean 1970’s sounds like me!). So she is going to spend an hour in the salon styling it and then bring it back for fine adjustments. We may actually get it today.
Medically I’m actually doing quite well at the minute, the consultant is pleased with how I’m doing. They didn’t even do a blood test on me today (first day since I got here). Feet back to normal and the rash is going away. I’m still on antibiotics but I think that is a precaution.
Isabel has added a page of useful information about my condition with links to useful additional reading, this will be revised over time as we get more information.
We have also posted a couple of pictures of me in the hospital room on the pictures page.
… 7k on the exercise bike yesterday which I was very pleased with, it’s rather hot in here so I was hoping they would not come and take my temperature just after I had finished…
