Temperature and blood pressure yesterday were still a bit up and down although the doctor still things it has a lot to do with the rash induced by Cytarabine. So the good news is I only have three more days of that to go and then the rash should start to fade.
Yesterday was also the day for Daunorubicin which is the one that makes me nauseous. Their timing was excellent for giving it, 11am, just in enough time for the first effects to be taking effect when the lunch tray turned up at 12:30pm - I just had to send it away, even the smell of it would have been enough to set me off… By about 8pm the nausea had worn off so I had some snacks for the box of stuff that Isabel has sent in for me.
The foot is still a bit swollen but has come down a bit - they gave me a water table to help my body process all the excess fluid they have been pumping into me and it seems to be working.
I was given one unit of blood yesterday and currently having another one first thing this morning because my Hemoglobin levels were a bit low (that would explain why I was very tiered for the last couple of days).
I am waiting to see if the rest of my hair starts to fall out - if not I am going to need another haircut soon (Isabel will be pleased). I am a bit disappointed that it appears to be the grey ones that are doing best…
I have photographs of the family and all the get well cards up in my room, which always gives the staff something to talk to me about. On of the cards (thanks Royal Mail) is an A-Z of medical terms for example under F there are two entries
Fibula: really small lie
Follow-up visit: Something to ensure that your doctor can make payments on his Jaguar
The support staff love this and have said they want to photocopy these terms and put them in the staff room.
… did my 3k again yesterday on the bike, I need to wait until my foot is back to normal and I’m eating properly before I can think about getting back to the 9k daily target…
