Some good news from the consultant yesterday it would appear that my Platelets as starting to go up (Helps blood clotting for cuts etc). That means my bone marrow appears to have recovered quicker this time round than last time. It was about day 26 in cycle one before we started to see any movement in blood counts. As before it is the Neutrophils (fights infections) that are the important one for getting home and they have not started to move yet. The consultant thinks there are a couple of reasons they are moving earlier in this cycle. Firstly I only had eight days of chemo not ten, more importantly my bone marrow was probably in much better condition at the start of cycle two than it was at the start of cycle one.
Isabel was in from lunch time, again bring a very nice selection of food for lunch. It makes a big difference to the day being able to eat something that is not on the menu. The food is not bad, just a bit repetitive (and I do sometimes have to check my order sheet to find out what it is I’m actually eating…)
It would appear I am now the height of fashion, hard to believe I know. When I came in Isabel got me a rather fetching cardigan and then cut the sleeves open so that I could get it on over the cannula (needle type thing) that was in my hand (which they took out the next day because I had the Hickman line). But the open sleeves are great for rolling them up to let the nurses take my blood pressure without having to take the cardigan off. Last nigh one of the staff commented how fashionable she thought my sleeves are on this cardigan, she had not realised it was something we had done ourselves.
I did not feel quite as tired yesterday as the day before, it might me the weather or my blood counts starting to recover, still had a snooze after Isabel had gone.
… 9k again on the exercise bike…
