This skill will require you to position equine patients and take diagnostic radiographs. Upon completion of the skill, you will be able to identify the anatomy to be radiographed, take diagnostic radiographs, and adjust any settings to achieve quality radiographs.
Tips for materials that need to be submitted:
Radiographic studies of equine patients
Please submit a clear photo of your radiographs. Ensure that all identification markers are visible in your image. Do not alter the image in any way before submitting it.
You need to complete two studies. The studies need be on two different anatomical regions (they can be on the same patient). A study consists of at least two views. So you should have two studies that consist of at least two views each. You can do both studies on the same patient or on two different patients.
You need to have:
Proper patient positioning
No hands should be in the radiograph
The radiograph needs to be labeled!
Proper collimation
Proper technique
List of patient information and radiographic views performed
You need to include:
The full patient signalment
The date the radiograph was performed
The views you took
Videos of student positioning for radiographic study
There will be two videos on the same patient, one for each radiograph in the study
Make sure we can see what you are doing
The video should match one of your patient's x-ray submissions
