This skill will require you to test both large and small animals patients for internal parasites. You will need to be able to identify common adult parasites, their ova and apply your knowledge of each of their lifecycles. Upon completion of this skill, you will be able to perform various tests using fecal material and identify internal parasites. In addition, you will also be able to identify different life stages of common internal parasites.
Tips for materials that need to be submitted:
Logbook of procedures performed
You need a total of sixteen tests results. (there are four procedures, you need to perform each test on each of the four species)
You must perform each of the 4 tests on each patient
You need to include a description of how each procedure was performed. You only need to explain each procedure once
You need to include the patient info (signalment)
You need to include the test results for each patient and test
Use proper terminology with correct taxonomic names
Use proper quantification to note the number of eggs seen per LPF
Description of comparing test results for each species
Points to think about for your description
Is there a reason why you got a positive test result for one type of test and not another?
Is there one method that you found to be more reliable?
