This skill will require you to perform oro-gastric intubation and orally medicate both canine and feline patients. Upon completion of this skill, you will be able to place an oro-gastric tube, medicate a patient through an oro-gastric tube, and hand pill both canine and feline patients.
Tips for materials required for submission:
You will need to submit a video of you placing an oro- gastric tube in either a canine or a feline.
You NEED to include each step of the process as outlined in the required criteria section of the skill sheet. Any missing steps will require a re submission.

If you or your site supervisor have any concerns about this skill you need to contact your evaluator. This is a required skill and must be completed.
If completing this skill on a canine patient it does not have to be anesthetized or sedated. However, if your patient is anesthetized or sedated that is acceptable.
You will need submit a video of you hand pilling both a canine and feline.
You need to hand pill! You cannot use a pill gun.
If you put pressure against the premolars it will cause the mouth to open.
The medication should be pushed to the back of the tongue.
Close the mouth until the patient swallows. If the patient is holding the pill gently blowing at the nose or massaging the esophagus will sometimes cause them to swallow. Do not get too close to the patients face in case they decide to bite.
