This skill will require you to perform record keeping activities, care, and observation of hospitalized patients. Upon completion of this skill, you will be able to provide routine care and treatment to hospitalized patients, as well as record observations and progress.
Tips for materials required for submission:
Copies of patient records or treatment sheets showing observations and treatments performed while you cared for 4 different hospitalized patients.
Make sure you indicate your entries by highlighting, circling or placing an asterisk.
The patients you are monitoring need to be actual hospitalized patients. Boarding animals are not accepted.
You should have more than one entry for each patient. (Minimum of 3 per patient)
A full entry includes more than just a TPR. Please review your Clinical Textbook for Veterinary Technicians for more information.
If your clinic does not hospitalize patients, then you can use a surgical patient. However, it must be after the patient has recovered from surgery. There are skills in Externship 2 devoted to anesthetic and recovery monitoring.
Do not submit records of an anesthesia log, that is not what this skill is requiring.
You can submit either:
A treatment sheet (preferred)
Logbook
Medical record
