This skill will require you to perform blood chemistry tests. Upon Completion of this skill, you will be able to collect blood, centrifuge the sample, harvest the serum, and perform the chemistry test according to hospital procedures.
Tips for materials that need to be submitted:
Description of operating procedures and test principles for all equipment used for the blood chemistry
This means you need to include all equipment you use for the chemistry including the centrifuge or analyzer profile
You need to walk through step by step on how the chemistry is run (the operating procedure). Start discussing right from the sample collection
Discuss the test principle for the analyzer, this is discussed in your Lab Procedures textbook. Some examples are photometry, electrochemistry and kinetic. Discuss whichever one your clinic uses and give a brief description of how the machine comes up with the results.
Copy of three patient records of blood chemistry tests
The chemistry must have been performed by you (in-house), not blood work that was sent out to a reference lab
