Profile by Tim Muttukumaru
"Gas" gets a profile because anyone who has a profile must by law complete at least 10 games for NTMCC. Or die. And regardless, he is the author of several very fine match reports on this very website.
Anyway, less of that, Gas is rather good at cricket. An opening bowler of the left armed variety, he aims to fill that Alan Mullally sized gap in the NTMCC bowling line up (he needs to beef up a bit before filling the Chris Marin sized gap). We usually associate him with metronomic line-and-length, combined with a shade of movement either way. It's a bit like watching a left handed Sean Farrington after a year on the Atkins Diet. Marginally quicker, though Fazza's recent performances on the five a side pitch indicate a Teddy Sheringham-esque extra yard in his head.
Batting-wise, Gas can talk the talk (I understand he has operated as a cricket coach in the Newcastle area) but has rarely been spotted making any runs. Just like Joe Gray's footballing prowess, it appears that Gas' batting ability may have been exaggerated. Never mind, his speed between the wickets more than makes up for any perceived inability to pierce the infield.
I've re-read the previous paragraphs and they're a bit harsh. Read the match reports, they're funnier than any of The Guns's Star Trek jokes. Anyway, Gas is also a talented captain of the CCCCCC. So talented that College lost only narrowly to the mighty NTMCC in the 2008 Old Boys game.
If he send me the old scorecards (the ones that I didn't lose), he'll also have his stats posted below.
