Profile by Tim Muttukumaru
Like fellow Demons Beacham, Boot and Muttukumaru, R.J.Hakin made an indelible impression on Christ's College sport. Initially spotted by IAM Thoroughlygoodatspottingyoungcricketers, he was first described as "quite a decent bowler". Subsequent investigation showed that Rob was in fact a rather more effective batsman and he bludgeoned his way to many hundreds of runs for College.
In his first year, Rob was primarily an off-side player who tended to get tired if he batted for too long, but he transformed in second year to a brutally effective straight hitter. Clocking up a number of sixes that hero Clive Lloyd would struggle to match, Rob was usually deployed at number 4 or 5 to considerable effect.
Fast and agile in the field, Rob has been known to irk opposition players (notably Ed Whiting in the 2005 NTMCC v CCCCCC game). This command of sledging makes up for the fact that his bowling, which remains highly effective in the bouncy indoor nets, is a little erratic these days.
We're hoping to tempt Robinho down for a couple of games during the summer, though his current whereabouts are unknown.
