Player Profile: Alexander Marsh

Profile by Tim Muttukumaru

Alexander "The Enforcer" Marsh (not to be confused with anyone who went to Christ's College) is a brutal top-order hitter and occasional bowler who is seeking to set the Not the MCC world on fire in 2009. Coming off the same Wolverhampton-based production line that brought us Sean "The Elephant Seal" Farrington, Marsh has superlative cricketing pedigree.

Early signs at 2009 net sessions suggested that this was to be a big season for Marsh. Using an aggressive stance, Al leaves most bowlers in no doubt that he likes to hit the ball hard. The offside is preferred but this is by no means the only spoke of his wagon wheel. A lack of patience may sometimes be his undoing, but these are minor details.

In the field, Marsh is sometimes known by his on-field moniker of "The Thames Barrier". There is not a finer long barrier in England and deployment at mid-on usually allows for plenty of outings for this famous London landmark. His bowling is, as yet, an underused asset. However, grainy black and white footage recently uncovered at a Time Team dig near Molineux suggests that Marshall may live up to his namesake in years to come.

Not at all known for his knowledge of any sport, Marsh nevertheless likes to indulge himself with a spot of gambling. Rumours that he will found a betting exchange with Hamer Boot (or that he has already founded one, but lost his controlling stake in a game of poker) have proved unfounded.
