Profile by Tim Muttukumaru
Schooled at Winchester, James has become one of the most important players at NTMCC since first emerging in the 2006 game against Christ's. Although known amongst most of his peers at university for his composed, elegant strokeplay with the bat, he is increasingly known as a bowler of considerable guile.
Adopting a sort of sideways shuffle towards the crease, his arms held high, James resembles a giant praying mantis at first glance. A whirl of the arms follows and the ball is delivered. Although not a prodigious spinner of the ball, James has great control and usually gives the ball a fair bit of flight. This uniquely alluring sight has tempted many a decent batsman into a rash shot.
As a batsman, James has always insisted on batting in a variety of garish caps (in the English style). This is in stark contrast to his rather more conventional batsmanship. Though not a regular high scorer for NTMCC, performances for other sides suggest that Williams is due a score or two.
In the field, James has a "spinner's arm". Propelling the ball at speeds upwards of 6mph, James (aka the Monarch of Moschino, Prince of Prada etc etc) is the proud owner of NTMCC's finest handbag*. In view of this, he is usually posted in the infield where he is able unleash a torrent of foul and abusive industrial language in the batsman's direction.
