1.3 Rewind: Wood Wide Web

Interaction with something you wouldn't expect any interaction from. That to me is interesting about the Wood Wide Web project.

The project of the 2016 version of NMNT allows visitors to touch and feel plants and trees and getting response from them by means of audio. In that way, the invisible web that exists between organic creatures becomes noticeable. Moreover, the interaction with something organic is very different to what we are used to these days, when all we touch and move are phones, screens, mouses and keyboards. I think these two concepts are explored really well. It is in the face but subtle at the same time.

A speculative future scenario that the work makes me think of is when human-plant interaction becomes more common. When instead of light switches, we have to touch or 'pet' our plant. New perspectives on the relationship between humans and plants are fascinating to me.
