Interactive Paper Systems

Interactive paper systems is a 3M Thermofax machine using the interface of a revolving belt permitting a treated paper to react to carbon while passing through the heated machine. It can produce color transparencies, spirit masters, stencils and opaque copy. It can be used to create large projection transparencies, transparencies for photo screening, copy for film-making, freak color separations, instant textile design, image distortion and transparency collages. It can translate any object that fits into its format range. It can produce endless variation of images within minutes.

I see this system's potential for the purpose of a large scale audio-visual interactive and performative installation. Each instance of a performance can be color coded into quite a large number of iterations of a particular instance, framing it within numerous shades of the same color, producing endless images. The distortion and transparency techniques could be manipulated and added as layers to translate a performative interaction to an onset film, as a backdrop for the installation itself. So to say, an interaction and a performance, in the making of it's own film, in motion, with each instance expressing the course of time and color.
