Size: Wing length 7-10mm

Species account: Another extremely common and widespread species often found in gardens. Females are distinguished from ribesii by the black basal half to the hind femora and from torvus by the bare eyes. Males are also bare eyed, and have no black hairs on the anterior surface of the hind femora, but are indistinguishable from rectus
