Size: Wing length 7-10mm

Species account: Amongst the most beautiful and distinctive of all british hoverflies, this widely distributed but local species has two bold yellow bands across the abdomen and extensive dark brown colouration in the wings. Flies May to September and is commonest from mid-June to August.
