Nomada flavopicta

Habitat: A variety of flower rich habitats on light soils, eg. heaths, chalk downland, dunes etc.

Size: 13mm

Species account: A scarce species which uniquely amongst the Nomada parasitises Melitta species. Males distinguished from other Nomada with yellow and black abdomens by the entirely yellow tegula, large yellow spots on the scutellum and pattern of yellow markings on the face. Females have the antennae entirely dark above, and large yellow dots on the scutellum.

Similar species: Male Nomada goodeniana has black edged tegula, unbroken yellow stripes on the abdomen and never has antennae which are entirely dark above. Nomada ruficornis has a red clypeus
