Bombus pratorum

Habitat: Parks, gardens and other open spaces.

Size: Queen 15-17mm, workers and males 10-14mm

Species account: A small species, this is often one of the first species to be seen each year as suggested by the common name of early bumblebee. Queens and workers are easily distinguished by the pattern of yellow bands and the orange-red tail, whilst males are even more distinctive with their shaggy yellow heads and faces.
