Speckled Bush Cricket - Leptophyes punctatissima

Habitat: Parks, gardens, woodland.

Size: 15mm

Species account: A common species across much of the UK. As the name suggests this is a heavily speckled species at all stages in the life cycle. These speckles help distinguish the speckled bush cricket from the other green bush crickets, the female also has a distinctive sabre shaped ovipositor. The song is somewhat feeble, not carrying beyond a metre.
