Species account: A colourful species widespread on heaths and moors across the UK. Females forage almost exclusively from heather, and any Colletes found on this plant is almost certain to be Colletes succinctus. Often forms large nesting aggregations in sandy patches. Males can often be found on yellow composites before the heather has begun flowering.
