Tree Bumblebee - Bombus hypnorum

Habitat: Gardens, parks, woodland

Size: Queen 19-21mm workers and males 13-16mm

Species account: Not known in the UK before 2001, this continental species has undergone a remarkable range expansion since first being reported in Hampshire, now being regularly seen throughout England, and incredibly even being reported from Iceland! All castes are instantly recognisable by the combination of a rich brown thorax and white tail.
