Seriously, if DQ ever goes out of business now I won't panic. This has to be their recipe - it's that good. I make it in my Cuisinart electric ice cream freezer and this recipe makes two batches which is about 2 1/2 gallon containers.
Ingredients
2 envelopes Knox gelatin
1/2 c. cold water
4 c. whole milk
2 c. sugar
2 tsps. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. heavy cream
Instructions:
Soak gelatin in cold water
Heat milk, but do not boil
Remove from heat & add gelatin, sugar, vanilla & salt
Cool and add cream
Chill for 5 - 8 hours
Pour into a 4 to 6 quart ice cream freezer can.
Process according to manufacturer's directions.
Scoop into a container, cover well and freeze several hours or overnight. Like most ice creams, the flavor improves with age.
