With your partner, decide first on the tone for each speaker. Then, prepare the words with the proper inflection to show the characters’ attitude toward Fred.
Speaker A: I understand we have Fred to thank for this.
Speaker B: Yes, he did it all by himself.
Speaker A. It’s really just like him.
Speaker B. I understand he’s a friend of yours.
Speaker A. Oh, I wouldn’t say that.
Then, by yourself, take the number below you have been assigned and decide on the best inflection to suggest the character’s attitude.
First, decide on the feeling being expressed.
Second, match the feeling to the inflection of the words.
1.Iago: How am I then a villain
To counsel Cassio to this parallel course,
Directly to his good?
2.Cassio: Reputation, reputation, reputation! O, I have lost my reputation! I have lost the immortal part of myself.
3.Othello: O my soul’s joy!.. If it were now to die,
‘Twere now to be most happy…
4. Desdemona: I saw Othello’s visage in my mind,
And to his honors and his valiant parts
Did I my soul and fortunes consecrate.
