A world that I have just begun to know is a world of cosmetology. I started to get to know this world during the summer as I did different people hair in multiple styles and in various ways. During the summer I first started off working in my cousin salon where she does everything that is imaginable to people hair. My cousin first started me off, as a shampoo girl which, I thought was great seeing as though the only thing that I could say that I really knew how to do was put individuals or micros in a person hair. Even though then I couldn’t really say that because my mom had let me test try her. My mom individuals had came out good but they weren’t great. So I continued to practice on my mannequins that my mom would buy and eventually I had perfected both hairstyles. Then after that I was able to do my mom hair without a problem and other people hair as well.
So, as I continued to work in my cousin salon she begun to teach me how to tell the difference between the types of hair that people have. Some can have curly hair, natural straight hair, course hair, and uncoarse hair (not trained to even be able to put a pony tail in their head). Eventually I knew and could identify them all. So after that my cousin started to teach me how to curl, straighten, add extensions and do other various hairstyles to people hair. I had felt proud of myself because for once not only was I learning how to do extensions or even a simple wash and curl but I felt as though I was part of my family in a different way. Mostly all females in my family have a passion for some type of cosmetology whether it be being able to add lashes, or doing hair in multiple ways other than individuals, corn rolls or even micros I felt as though I came in on something that everyone values and it is now something that I have begun to value. So as the summer progressed I tried to do a different variety of hairstyles which worked in my favor because a hairstyle that I and many of my family member both agree on I can do micros the best which I proved as I entered one of my styles in a hair show. Everyone loved it and it made me proud because besides writing I think I may have just found a second passion of mine that I am proudly glad to say is now a family tradition.
