Growing Up by Whitney Spaulding
I started to plant certain seeds of knowledge when I was very little. My academic skills were not as strong as they later grew to be, so I started to pick up other types of activities. I would swim, do gymnastics and take a bunch of art classes. But when I was uprooted from my life in California, I had to start everything over. I grew to hate school because my grades never rose about a 75%. That’s when my mom took me to get checked out, just to see if there was something causing my bad grades. There was, I had Auditory Processing problems which meant I couldn’t hear half of the things people were saying because their words would sound like tangled up ivy. I started to work on my hearing through very annoying repetitive computer programs but eventually I blossomed. The world was new to me, all the weeds that had been getting in my way were gone and I could finally grow to be strong and healthy. Now, every time something pops up or isn’t helping me, I just cut it way, so I can continue to blossom and grow.
