Thursday, March 10
Notes by: Tatiana Lee
- moment of silence
- check in
- Free write:
- Do you have a plan for the future? You don't have to go into detail but explain why you have a plan or goal.
Classes Response:
- never live in moment, have a plan to achieve your goals
- make a plan
- leave room for life to takes it course
- depending on what you want to do with your future, your plan will fall in place
- somethings you can't plan for. Example, going to college but, how do you pay for college?
- vision what will be the ideal life for you
- wife
- two kids
- having a goal set can limit your outcome
- allows us to see how short life is.
- There is difference between having a plan and leaving space in that plan for the unexpected.
- for example you may really want to have kids, what if you are unable to have kids?
What are somethings that you plan for but it unplanned events may ruin those plans:
- planning a vacation, and the weather is bad so your vacation gets canceled.
- wanting to have kids but, you or your companion may not be able to produce or reproduce
The Fifth Child:
Do you find the Lovatts life appealing?
- they have a vision for their life but they can't afford the kids.
- they are depended on others to raise their children
- having 4 kids so close together makes it hard to cherish each child- read page 10 out loud
- they rush into things too fast
- despite all of our planning, there are parts of us that can't be subject to planning.
- plan depends on money from his father and help from her mother
Themes/ Issues in Frankenstein:
- "vision"
- responsibility for one's actions
- justice/ fairness
- group vs. individual
- nature vs. nurture
- " parenting"- one's "creation"
- we get to see the creation point of view in Frankenstein
- we never get to see Ben's point of view in The Fifth Child
