Ann Putlan (aka. Anne Putland)
Anne Putland was born 6th March 1866, at The Lagoon, Campbells River in the Bathurst district of New South Wales, Australia. Anne was the second of four daughters born to a shepherd, Thomas Putland (1812-1876) and Mary Anne Ritchie nee' Marlow (1826-1910). source: NSW birth transcript (see below).
Edward Ryan and Anne Putland married on March 8, 1886, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rockley, New South Wales. The marriage was registered in West MacQuarie, although BDM registration # 4241/1886 online surprisingly shows Moulamein, which is a border town on the Murray River and had a Post Office.
Edward was a farmer from Shinglers Creek, New South Wales, and a widower, although his marriage certificate shows him as a bachelor and Anne a spinster from Gilmandyke. One witness was Sophia Putland (1864-1943) who shortly afterwards married George Knight in 1887 at Bathurst (BDM# 3896/1887).
Annie Ryan nee Putland died on 30th May 1950, at Osman Lane, Blayney, aged 83 and was buried in the Catholic section of Blayney cemetery (BDM 13254 / 1950).
The NSW birth transcript, shows approximations of her parents ages, presumably provided by them. Thomas 49 years, suggesting his birth was in 1817 and Mary Anne 37 years, suggesting her birth was 1829. We know Mary Marler was born 1826. in Secunderabad, India; When Annie Putland was born on March 6, 1866, in Bathurst, Australia, her father, Thomas, was 54 and her mother, Mary, was 40.
The similarity in dress and accessories suggests this maybe a photos of the same person. Both grandmothers of Ivy Luck attended her marriage in 1941, to Allan Egan.
The main difference I see is in the smiling face of the figure to the left compared to a stoic expression on the figure to the right, which I think is Anne Putlan Ryan.
Annie Ryan appears on Electoral rolls and Census after 1930 at Osman Lane, Blayney and lived with her son Edward A Ryan. This is also where Ben and Elsie Luck lived in 1937 although in the following census Ben appear in Carcoar Street.Annie Ryan nee Putland died on 30th May 1950, at Osman Lane, Blayney, aged 83 and was buried in the Catholic section of Blayney cemetery (BDM 13254 / 1950).
A NSW death transcription for another Anne Putland shows her father as Richard Putland and mother as Mary Applebee. Alexander Appelbe was her guardian and foster father who may have adopted her.
This correlates with a record of her half sibling Esther Paris Lang, whose own record refers to Fairy Applebee as a member of the Paris family.
My thinking is that this is a nickname or a misreading of Fairy for Mary.
They had 3 surviving children and BDM documents show more birth over 24 years, with eight siblings living and seven children deceased by the year of Anne's birth in 1866. This is not confirmed.
Annie died about 1950 in Blayney, Australia, at the age of 83.

Family members appear to have moved about the district and resided for a time in Burraga, Rockley, Blayney, Bathurst and also Dubbo and Sydney.
