Somerset - South West England
South West England is one of nine official regions of England. It is the largest such region in area, covering 9,200 square miles (23,828 km2) and comprising Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Thomas Marler (1798-1829) was a person from this region identified in the family linage. Thomas was born in Taunton, Somerset, England and baptised in St Mary Magdalene's Church , Taunton.
He joined the British army at age 12 and was in Australia with the 46th Regiment before traveling with them to India, where he died in 1829.
On the 5th of October 1790, one Benjamin Carver was expected to be the groom in marriage to Jane Whitlock which may have not proceeded as Ben Carver was charged on the same day and his name appears on record with the Wiltshire Assizes charged in a bastardy case. This may suggest there was a child in their affair and that he may have been absent at the wedding.
Was this the same Benjamin Carver born about 1768, and was this part of the distress he expressed to the Vicar of Ely ion the highway robbery that sent him to Australia.
Was either the son of Benjamin Carver and Anne Meadows?
